Mother's Day is a day to honor
those exceptional women
who have made special contributions
to our lives.
And you certainly are
someone exceptional to me . . .

Sister, this is for all the times
you've been there for me --
to hold my hand or guide me
through a rocky spot.
I always know that when I need
an honest opinion
or someone to listen to my ideas,
you'll be there.
If I need someone to lean on,
you're always there --
and when it is time to spread my wings
and go forward,
you gently lift me up and set me free
so that I can soar to new heights
and faraway places.

Without you, I don't know where
I'd be today.
You have shared so much of my life --
its laughter, tears, highs, and lows --
and I'm quite sure that without you
I wouldn't have grown to be
the person that I am. You are an incredible sister,
and I'm so lucky that you're mine.
